in the middle east there is a thing called a المهباج "muhbaj" which is a combined coffee grinder and a musical instrument. its filled with roasted coffee beans that make a low "thud" when you smush them, and the rim makes a high "tak" when you tap it. at the end of a "performance" (??) you have ground coffee you can serve your guests and loved ones.
its a unified manifestation of the cultural importance of music, rhythm, coffee, and hospitality. i love it.“”
